Recently, the Oregon Lottery officially announced the $1.326 billion Powerball winners.
“This is our first winner at this scale, so it is very exciting for us,” said Melanie Mesaros, spokesperson for the Oregon Lottery, to ABC News on April 7.

The lottery winners have the option to accept a lump sum cash payment of $621 million or receive annual payments of the $1.3 billion, before taxes, starting with an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year, the lottery said.
The jackpot is subject to federal and state taxes in Oregon.
The Plaid Pantry store in northeast Portland will also receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, according to the lottery.
“Plaid Pantry is thrilled to know that one of our 104 Oregon stores sold the $1.3 billion Powerball ticket,” said Plaid Pantry President and CEO Jonathan Polonsky in a statement to the Oregon Lottery. “This is one of our newest and dearest stores. Oregon Lottery revenues fund many programs that benefit the entire state, and we have been a proud partner of the Oregon Lottery from the beginning.”
The winning $1.326 billion ticket holders came forward on April 8 and underwent a vetting process before their identities were announced.
“This is an unprecedented jackpot for the Oregon Lottery,” said Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells in a press release on April 8. “We are taking all precautions to verify the winner before delivering the prize money, which will take time.”
The Powerball jackpot had previously soared to an estimated $1.3 billion before the April 6 drawing, after a record streak without a winner.
